What will happen if Dalits will create their own mainstream media?

In last 60 years Government could not do much to solve the problem of caste discrimination , the problem of social and economic gap which is there in Indian society.


Media failed to infuse a sense of social responsibility in Indian people.Mainstream Indian Media never cared to highlight the necessity of making a casteless society because mainstream media is full of uppercaste people who are not interested in cause of Dalits.


Only when Dalits will have good representation in media, we will be able to raise conciousness for casteless society.what do you say?

if u r one. go for it. there are 250m dalits - sure there r geniuses among them. but 'cos of society's suppression, they cant rise up. so its time tt they organize themselves into a force, not violent or revolutionary. but self-help, start a cooperative, give tuition to the kids, recognize the clever kids and nurture them. seek scholarship from ngos not to study abroad but to pay for schools within country. start business and be firm and resolute and careful. dont let upper class be too suspicious / envious tt they will wreck it. with some avenue thru media u will raise consciousness and more dalits will see opportunities.

Reply:The oppression of the dalits breaks my heart. How are they suppose to get positive media representation if the upper caste individuals control the media? What steps do you think the Dalits can take in achieving this. I personally think that the Dalits will have to create their own media outlets, if they can acquire the resources to do so.


Assuming that the bigotry towards the Dalits is not due to ignorance and that the bigotry towards the Dalits is one which seeks to exploit the Dalit community for economic, political, and social gain, how do you suppose that such bigotry can be eliminated if those who have everything to gain by dalit exploitation fail to make a change?
