I'm just making a list of films about NGOs/ social work/ conflict-ridden areas.
I've thought of some:
Beyond Borders
The Constant Gardener
That's about where my list ends. Any movies you've seen that are themed on social work, spoils of big media/ big pharma/ big corporation, etc.?
Help me make a list of "social" movies like The Constant Gardener.?
Blood Diamond. It explains issues in Africa dealing with conflict diamonds and child soldiers.
One of the best movies of '06.
Reply:"Dead Man Walking" - deals with how poor people on death row don't get the same judicial support as people with money (people with money don't end up on death row!) "The Insider" great movie - a must see by everyone in my view - especially anyone who smokes. It stars Russell Crowe and Al Pacino.
Reply:live is beautiful
gandhi
both are gud
Reply:The Fisher King would be with the social work field. Black Hawk Down would be another for conflict-ridden area. That's all I can think of too, hope this helps.
Reply:seven years in tibet and to kill a mockingbird are two good ones
Reply:Please see "Blood Diamonds". It's about the illegal diamond trade in Sierra Leone. It's very violent (a man's very young boy gets captured %26amp; forced to fight...he's brainwashed to be a killer---it's very disturbing to watch). But the ending is very uplifting, and the acting is incredible.
Reply:Erin Brokovitch
Reply:"The Killing Fields" from the early 80's
Reply:Hmmm...
Dangerous Minds
Barbarians at the Gate
Bad Medicine
Erin Brockovich
Reply:You have to see Hotel Rwanda. That movie is incredible.
I just watched Thank you for smoking. It was prety good but not monumental.
Reply:maybe The Power of One and I Am Sam
